Colophon
How this site is made — for anyone curious about what’s under the hood. Everything is hand-written, no site builders, no templates.
Stack
- React 19 — The interface, a custom router on the History API and curtain transitions.
- TypeScript — All the code of the site, scripts and data — typed.
- Vite — Builds in a second and prerenders every page into its own HTML.
- Tailwind CSS 4 — Tokens in @theme, keyframe animations, no UI libraries.
- Lenis — Smooth scrolling — and a custom scrollbar on top of it.
- Simple Icons — Technology logos — in the case stacks and on /uses.
- Node.js, zero dependencies — A custom server: “Right now”, leads to Telegram, stars and views.
- nginx + pm2 — HTTPS, serving the prerendered pages, the server process lives under pm2.
- Puppeteer — OG images, covers, avatars and emoji are rendered from HTML with one command.
- opentype.js — The LKXA logo was converted to outlines straight from the Geist font.
Details
- Prerendering
- Every page and case has its own HTML with meta tags and an OG image — search engines and messengers see the text without JavaScript.
- Live data
- The “Right now” block gets activity from a custom VS Code extension and the current track from Spotify.
- No tracking by default
- Analytics loads only after consent in the cookie banner. Stars and views are counted without storing IPs.
- Respecting your settings
- If animations are turned off in your system, the site turns them off too: only opacity changes remain.
- Easter eggs
- Type “lkxa” on any page. Or open the developer console.
- Identity from code
- Logos, emoji, covers and the deck are generated by scripts from one set of tokens — change a colour, rebuild everything.
